The Contingents in AWG
Learn more about all 9 contingents competing in the AWG's, representing teams and athletes from the circumpolar region of the globe.
In the Northwest Territories and Yukon, the government-created bodies of Sport North Federation and sport Yukon are responsible for conducting Territorial team trials, providing uniforms, recruiting mission staff, organizing aircraft charters, and generally doing all things necessary to send teams to the Games. In Alaska and Greenland this function is performed by the Arctic Winter Games Corporation of Alaska and the Greenland Sports Federation, respectively. In Northern Alberta the individual sport governing bodies are responsible for team trials, while the Alberta Sport, Parks, Recreation and Wildlife foundation attends to all other organizational matters. In regards to the Russian contingents, these functions are performed at the local level by government officials.
